What services does a BC Notary Public provide?

A BC Notary Public can witness and certify signatures on legal documents, prepare and notarize Wills, Powers of Attorney, Representation Agreements, Advance Healthcare Directives and certain real estate and business documents, and issue certified true copies of original documents. Unlike lawyers, notaries in BC handle non-contentious matters - meaning no disputes or litigation.

What should I bring to my appointment?

Please bring two valid, government-issued IDs - one needs to be a photo ID (passport, driver's licence, or BC services card, PR card, a credit card etc.) and the document(s) you need notarized.

How much do your services cost?

Any travel/mobile service fee is quoted separately from the notarial fee, so you'll always know exactly what you're paying for.

Can you notarize a document that's already signed?

No — for notarizations, you must sign the document in front of the notary public. This is a legal requirement to confirm your identity and that you're signing willingly. Please don't sign in advance.

Are you insured?

Yes. My practice carries professional (errors & omissions) liability insurance in accordance with the requirements of the Society of Notaries Public of British Columbia (SNPBC), so you can proceed with full confidence.

Do you come to me, or do I have to visit an office?

I offer mobile notary services and can meet you at your home, workplace, or another convenient location in the Tri-Cities, Burnaby, and Pitt Meadows (other locations may be available upon request). A separate travel fee applies depending on distance, which is always itemized clearly on your quote before we book.

Do you provide certified true copies of documents?

Yes. I can certify that a photocopy is a true copy of an original document — commonly needed for passports, diplomas, ID, and other official records.

I'm not sure if I need a notary or a lawyer — can you help?

Happy to point you in the right direction. Notaries handle non-contentious legal matters (not requiring litigation in a court of law); if your situation involves a dispute or litigation, I'll let you know and can suggest reaching out to a lawyer instead.
